How to Find Your TOPDON Tool Name and Serial Number

Use the steps below to find the name of your tool and the serial number. First, find the tool name. Then, follow the steps for either a wireless tool or a wired tool.

Step 1: Find the Name of Your Tool

  1. Turn your tool over.
  2. Look at the back of the tool.
  3. Find the main label on the back.
  4. The tool name is printed on this label. It may include the series name and model name.

You will use this name when you select your product on our site or in support materials.

Step 2: Decide if Your Tool Is Wireless or Wired

  • Your tool is wireless if it connects to the vehicle through a separate VCI (a small box or dongle that plugs into the OBD/DLC port).
  • Your tool is wired if the cable is fixed to the tool or plugs straight from the tool into the vehicle with no separate VCI.

Once you know this, follow the matching section below.

Wireless Tools: Find the Serial Number on the VCI

If your tool uses a wireless VCI, use the serial number from the VCI, not from the main tool.

  1. Find the VCI that plugs into the vehicle’s DLC/OBD port.
  2. Turn the VCI over and check the back side.
  3. Look for a sticker or printed label with numbers and letters.
  4. The serial number is:
    • On the back of the VCI, or
    • Printed across the side that plugs into the DLC port.

Use only this VCI serial number for wireless tools when you need to provide a serial number.

Wired Tools: Find the Serial Number on the Tool

If your tool is corded and does not use a separate wireless VCI:

  1. Turn your tool over.
  2. Look at the back of the tool.
  3. Find the label on the back that shows barcodes and text.
  4. Look for the line marked Serial Number, S/N, or similar.

For wired tools, always use the serial number printed on the back of the tool.
