TOPDON USA Announces TopFix AI as Initial Phase of More Advanced AI Solutions in Development
TOPDON USA recently announced the release of TopFix AI, the first phase of the company’s broader artificial intelligence strategy designed to support technicians with faster and more informed diagnostic decision-making. The feature was introduced as part of a software update for the TopScan, CarPal, and supported TOPDON thermal imaging tools.
TopFix AI is designed to assist technicians by analyzing fault conditions, identifying likely causes, and recommending service procedures using data drawn from a large repair knowledge base. It's also integrated into TOPDON’s ONE Series diagnostic platforms, where it supports guided fault-code interpretation alongside topology-based system diagnostics.

Built on a Large Database of Fault Data and Repair Procedures
TopFix AI works by accessing a proprietary database containing vehicle maintenance and fault data, including:
- fault causes and symptoms
- maintenance recommendations
- repair procedures
- circuit and component diagrams
- case studies
- repair histories
Using Retrieval-Augmented Generation (RAG), the system identifies relevant solutions and produces structured, human-readable responses to diagnostic questions. This allows technicians to move more efficiently from fault identification to repair planning. In a recent TOPDON survey of more than 3,000 technicians and DIY mechanics, respondents identified faster fault identification and improved access to repair information as two of the most important needs in modern diagnostic workflows.
Supports Natural-Language Diagnostic Questions in More Than 100 Languages
TopFix AI understands and responds to technician questions using conversational natural language across more than 100 languages. This capability allows users to interact with diagnostic information more directly instead of navigating multiple service menus or documentation layers.
By simplifying access to repair knowledge, the system helps reduce time spent searching for supporting information during troubleshooting workflows.
