BT600 or BT600 Plus? Choose Your Battery Tester

There are plenty of good reasons the BT600 automotive battery tester is a perennial TOPDON best-seller. Fast, accurate, easy to use, and priced for accessibility, the BT600 generates rave reviews from technicians and DIYers alike.

In busy service environments, a reliable battery tester isn’t just about checking voltage—it’s about quickly verifying battery health, cranking performance, and charging system output to prevent unnecessary comebacks.

At TOPDON, we’re always searching for ways to add capabilities to our product line to help technicians and DIYers improve their performance. The BT600 Plus is the latest result of those efforts.

“Our new BT600 Plus builds on our BT600, which is one of our most popular battery testers among professionals and DIYers worldwide,” said Chad Schnitz, Vice President of TOPDON US. “The BT600 Plus is a result of listening to customer feedback and integrating new features to make an even more versatile tool than the original.”

With two extremely capable automotive battery testers available, which one is right for you?

BT600 Overview: 12V and 24V Battery Testing with Built-In Printer

The BT600 performs battery tests on 12V systems and can run cranking and charging tests on both 12V and 24V vehicles. The 3.5-inch full-color display presents battery and system data in a clear, easy-to-read format, and a built-in thermal printer allows you to print the exact content displayed on the screen.

In many shops, printed test results are attached to work orders or shared directly with customers as proof of battery condition. A battery tester with a built-in printer streamlines that workflow.

The BT600 supports 8 languages and includes safety features such as reverse polarity protection and insulated copper clamps. The tool comes with a carry bag, three rolls of thermal paper, a battery test cable with clamps, a mini-USB to USB cable, and a user manual.

BT600 Plus Overview: Expanded Voltage Range and Bench Testing Mobility

The BT600 Plus battery and resistance tester amplifies the BT600’s abilities with an integrated, rechargeable lithium battery. With its built-in battery, the BT600 Plus can test voltages as low as 2 volts.

That low-voltage capability is especially valuable when diagnosing deeply discharged batteries that other automotive battery testers may not even power on to read. Vehicles that have sat for extended periods or experienced parasitic drain often fall into this category.

Its onboard power source allows technicians to disconnect and take the unit wherever it’s needed. Review data, compare results, print reports, and make decisions right at the bench—without running back and forth to the vehicle.

The BT600 Plus supports testing for 6V, 12V, and 24V lead-acid batteries, along with cranking and charging tests for 12V and 24V systems. It also expands chemistry coverage, offering diagnostics and analysis for lead-acid, lithium, alkaline, and carbon-zinc batteries.

It comes with a carrying case, two sets of test leads, five rolls of thermal paper, a USB-A to USB-C cable, and a 4-in-1 wall charger.

BT600 vs BT600 Plus: What’s the Difference?

Both tools are capable automotive battery testers designed for professional and DIY use, but the BT600 Plus adds mobility and expanded battery coverage.

The BT600 is ideal for technicians who prioritize quick vehicle-based testing and printed reporting. The BT600 Plus adds internal power, low-voltage testing down to 2V, and broader chemistry support, making it a more versatile battery and resistance tester for bench diagnostics and deeper analysis.

Which Automotive Battery Tester Is Right for You?

Choosing the right automotive battery tester depends on your workflow. If you primarily test standard 12V and 24V vehicle batteries and value built-in print capability, the BT600 delivers fast, dependable results.

If your work includes diagnosing deeply discharged batteries, testing multiple chemistries, or performing more advanced resistance analysis, the BT600 Plus offers added flexibility and mobility.

Accurate and dependable battery testing is easily available with both the BT600 and BT600 Plus. Now it’s up to you to choose the one that best fits your testing environment.
